36 Weeks... and 7 days...!

We completed 36 weeks yesterday!!! Looking back 12w when the bedrest started... 36w seemed so distant. I counted down hours of every day at one point of time! I started calming down a little bit after crossing 30w! Every week seemed like a bonus after that. Emotional and the physical aspect of the long bedrest is beyond words. Yet, here I am at 36w1d today... just 7 days away from our scheduled c-section!

Yes, we rescheduled (from March 31, 2010) to Friday, March 26, 2010 at 37w1d! My husband and I were of the opinion that since technically 37w is full term, we would rather schedule the c-section around that time than have an emergency situation later on. Yes, things can still change anytime, but at least we will be trying our best to get to 37w! Our OB agreed with us, and after a long anxious wait today he finally called at around 0800 pm and informed that we are all set! I am technically off of bedrest as of 36w, but I am so not in a shape to move around... so I am just generally going to take it easy for the next 1 week!

NST and BPP have been going well. Though, they are starting to see some increase in fluid for the babies. It seems that in this stage of the pregnancy it is possible to see increase in fluid if the mom is diabetic. Even though I am not on any medication, I am borderline and have been monitoring my blood sugar (4 times a day) and watching my diet since week 14. So, we will be seeing how things look during Tuesday's NST and might go early if there is any drastic change!

I am just hoping and praying that everything goes well, and we have two healthy babies with us next Friday!

  2. Oh, how exciting! It's great that you know you have a few days to get last minute stuff in order. I can't wait to read the announcement!

To answer your question, we do swaddle (we have miracle blankets- receiving blankets are just too small and its too easy to break arms free from the kind that has velcro) but we are trying to use them only at night time to try to start distinguishing night sleep from daytime naps right away. Plus, the instructions with the swaddles say not to swaddle for more than 10 hours a day. Our daytime naps are most often in swings or bouncers. That may change once my husband goes back to work and I need to sleep more during the day though. I HIGHLY reccommending getting a miracle blanket.

  3. I am so happy for you BB!! YOu have made it through some really tough stuff and it's almost time to meet your little sweeties. It seems so strange to be so close to the finish line, doesn't it?

I will pray that you all get to Friday and can have smooth sailing with the birth. And just as important, a smooth and speedy recovery for you. Take it easy while you are in the hospital and focus on your recovery while you are there. When you get home, you will be focused on so much else besides yourself. It is hard to do and easy to say but you will appreciate those few days of you-time (even while you are soaking up being a new mom every second) before it completely shifts to the babies.

I remember those days all too well and wish you the very best until your next update!!

  8. Awww, I won't get to share my b-day with your babies. :-( That's OK... maybe our babies will share a birthday! HUGE congratulations on making it this far. I really don't know if I could have lasted on bedrest, especially towards the end. With just one baby, I sleep in short spurts and then have to walk around, get a drink, use the bathroom, read,... all before I can sleep again for another brief spell. Cheers to you and the most exciting week ever!

  9. Wow, you're doing fabulous! Congratulations on reaching 36 weeks - that's awesome. Good luck for the week ahead. I hope you reach the scheduled C-section date, but if not, I'm sure your duo will do beautifully at this gestation.

The relief when the epidural kicks in is amazing. You'll be able to take a deep breath again soon. ;-)

I actually slept SO much better *after* the triplets arrived -- even though it was interrupted -- than during the last part of the pg when I was incredibly uncomfortable.

Relief and utter joy is around the corner!
